What is Reiki

Introduction

Reiki (pronounced “Ray-Key”) is a system of natural healing which originated in Japan. Reiki is applied to the receiver through light touch across a series of hand positions which have been clinically shown to support regulation of the nervous system and promote self-healing.

Reiki is non-dogmatic, non-religious and is incredibly effective.  There are no known contraindications, but there are many physical and mental health benefits.

Being holistic in nature Reiki addresses the individual as a whole rather than treating a specific symptom or body part.  This natural healing system can be used to help anyone, including oneself, and helps to restore a healthy balance to the mind, body and spirit.

Because of the huge physical, mental and emotional benefits of Reiki, it is widely used in hospitals, healthcare and cancer centres across the United States, United Kingdom and Europe.  Reiki is becoming more mainstream in New Zealand, especially during and after the pandemic when a focus on self-care and mental health and wellbeing became more of a primary focus.
